Glubam as an important part of the composition and direction of development ofmodern bamboo structures, therefore, to fully understanding of the properties ofmaterials, to provide support for the adequate and reliable use of materials is the mostimportant thing in development of modern bamboo structures. Although, Glubam hasbeen used widely in construction and bridges, modern bamboo architecture isgradually formed, however, further research on materials also needs to continue. Thispaper has depth and comprehensive study of the shear performance to provide theexperimental basis for the design of bamboo structures through experimental researchand analysis, to provide important data for strength theory and finite element analysis, while to provide some reference for shear performance of node and structural safetyunder seismic loads.Firstly, the author have research on the the material moisture content, density andother basic physical properties. The results show that, Glubam is the new material ofhigher density and stable moisture content. Thereafter, the author conducted asupplement compression test to improve the content of the material compression test, the results showed that: the transverse compressive strength (26.5MPa) is only abouthalf of the longitudinal compressive strength (50.8MPa)’s. Glubam has been greatlyovercome the natural bamboo is easy to path crack problem, not only to ensure thestrength of the direction of the force, but also to ensure that there is sufficient strengthof the other direction to prevent instability and failure.Based on this, the study found, the number of fiber have a major impact on itsperformance. Key tasks of this article is on the shear behavior of different fiber beexplored. Test selected three kinds of Glubam with different number of fibers, bycomparison and selection of the test program, design of test, processing of specimento obtain the effect of different number of fibers and different loading method s on theshear properties of this material. We obtain the following conclusions:(1)For thesame kind of loading, the number of fibers is proportional to the shear strength;(2)In-plane shear strength are far below the out-of-plane shear(;3)Arrangement of fibersmainly impact on in-plane shear, The more closely staggered, the higher the shearstrength.Thirdly, tests datas were analyzed, the statistical distribution model fitting was found: Weibull distribution can be used to describe the out-of-plane shear strength, the in-plane shear better meet the normal distribution. This analysis obtains the meanvalue of the material, the allowable stress, resistance calculations, the standard valueof95%guaranteed rate and design value. Finally, according to the existing theoretical analysis and experimental data, ashear strength formula between the percent of fiber quantity is created, provided thematerial for the design calculation methods and ideas.
