Welding technology has become an important process in steel structures, for theadvantages such as low manufacturing cost, environmental protection and safetyimprovement, what’s more welding structure can effectively improve productionefficiency, and welding structure is more and more widely applied in the automotiveindustry. Welding is a complicated physicochemical process which involves in heattransferring, metal melting and freezing, closely related to the quality of the projectsand the stability of the structure. Because of the highly centralized instantaneous heatinput, a great deal of residual stress and deformation would be brought in the processof the welding, which can heavily influence the capability of welding structure,weldingdeformation directly affects the performance of welding structure, on the other handwelding stress can be released slowly which will influence the performance of thestructure seriously. Therefore it is essential to calculate and analyze the residual stressand deformation in welding structure, and through a certain way to reduce the weldingdeformation and residual stress is of great practical significance.This paper using the finite element software ABAQUS simulate the weldingtemperature and residual stress field. The paper firstly describes the basic theories andnumerical analysis methods of the temperature field and residual stress field. And thenby the numerical simulation on the U-shaped with flange parts welding model, someresearch work has done on the relationship between the welding deformation,residualstress and welding sequence, welding current, resistance welding time, electrodepressure, find out the main factors influencing the welding quality. Through simulationof multiple sets of experimental data, effective ways to improve the quality of weldinghave been found.Based on the FEM software ABAQUS and the conclusion which is got by the U-shaped parts provides the instruction of method and theory for the design of car windowframe welding process. Welding quality of the welding parameter sensitivity has beencalculated,the welding deformation and welding residual stresses on the sensitivity ofeach welding parameters have been found out. Optimization model has been set upbetween welding parameters and welding quality, optimized welding parameters, usingthe optimized result to calculate the welding deformation and welding residual stresses,it is concluded that the optimization result was consistent with simulation result. The results show that optimized welding parameters can effectively reduce the weldingdeformation and welding residual stress, which can provide a beneficial reference todecrease welding deformation and welding residual stress.
