Analyzing water power utilization of pumping stations is very important not only in solving the problem of regional irrigation and drainage, water use for industrial and agricultural sectors, also it has a significant help for economic development. Along with the construction and transformation of large-scale pumping stations in Jiangsu, we conducted further research in reversible features of pumping unit. With the use of discharged water resource to generate electricity, the cost is very low, and does not produce pollution; also it can provide imperative energy. At present, part of the axial flow pumping stations has the ability to generate electricity, but these pumping units are designed only in the technical indicator of pump performance. While in generator operation mode, the unit output and power generation efficiency is obviously low, but if high-performance pumping units are selected instead of turbine, the performance is preferable.By the calculation and comparation of experimental data of relevant pumping station model, this paper analyzes the inverted power generation property of pump station. There are three parts in this paper:First, through consulting literature, analyze the feasibility of inverted power generation and the influence factors of the power generation efficiency. Analyze the principle of inverted power generation.Second, make research on the experimental data of Liulaojian station,Siyang pump station and Zaohe station experimental models. Analyze test data, determine the outlet form, the angle of the blades placed that influence power generation efficiency under generator operation mode, then seek out the relevant data when reach the optimal generation efficiency.Third, based on the above experimental study on three pumping stations, explore the hydraulic characteristics of the pump units under generator operation mode, in order of further study of the inverted power generation modes. Through inductive analysis of the principles of various operational modes, combined with the actual situation of the pumping station, choose the best operation mode of inverted power generation.
