Along with West-China development and West-East electricity transmission project being implemented, twlve hydropower bases i.e. nearly 20 largr-scale cascade reservoirs are being built, a situation of multi-reservoir joint operation is come into being gradually. The reservoir regulation theories of single reservoir or one reservoir with mult-hydropower station is unfit for dealing with the problem of multi-dimension reservoir systems.Wujiang cascade reservoirs is one of the best regulation capacity and the most complex cascade reservoirs which have been built in China. Therefore, with Wujiang cascade reservoirs as the study objective, the study of cascade reservoirs power generation optimized operation will be of very important and universal significance in theory and applicantion.Based on the demand of Wujiang cascade reservoirs power generation operation, this paper studies the change rule of carryover storage reservoir's year-end-level, the models and the methods of power generation optimized operation, the establishment of cascade reservoirs operating rule curve and the development of power generation software system etc. The main results of this paper are as follows:(1) The main factors which affect carryover storage reservoir's year-end-level are analyzed. Considing current runoff forecast level and power generation scheduling status, combining various beginning regulated water level with different inflow frequency, carryover storage reservoir's year-end-level are calculated. The decision tree method is used to analyse the relationship between year-end-level and effect factors. The year-end-level control rule of HongJiaDu reservoir is established.(2) By the extension of reservoirs systems, dimensionality problem is the bottle-neck. The reduction of dimension numbers and the improvement of efficiency is a important problem of reservoir operation. Aimd at each characteristic of Particle swarm optimization (PSO) and differential evolution algorithm(DEA), the two algorithms are improved in this paper and used to calculate multi-dimension cascade reservoirs power generation optimized operation. The improvement of PSO represents the suggestion of a constraint handling strategy and dynamic inertia weight.The improvement of DEA represents the suggestion of a non-parameter punishment constraint handling methods.The two improved algorithms, used to calculate reservoir operation ,may overcome inefficiency and imprecision caused by the multi-dimension and the complex constraints.(3) This paper ascertains the optimal criterion of cascade reservoirs long-term load distribution. The maximum energy storage model of cascade reservoirs in scheduling final time is established. At the same time, a new method of dynamic searching methods is introduced to solveing this model.(4) This paper presents the concept of cascade reservoirs total energy in next period of time. In combing optimal with traditional methods, the cascade reservoirs operating rule curve is drawn. The maximum energy storage model of cascade reservoirs is applied to distribute rationally the cascade load.(5) Power generation consultation is a central process of power generation operation. The construction theory and basic flow pathof power generation consultation system are analyzed, the frame of power generation consultation system composed of C/S and B/S is established, the fundamental process and factors of power generation consultation are ascertained.(6) Aimed at the problems of Wujiang cascade reservoirs joint operation, with the maximum benefits as objective, based on the models and the methods presented in this paper, the power generation operation software of Wujiang cascade reservoirs, which composed of four layers B/S and C/S, is developed. Also, the main functions of software are introduced .The software system has been adopted in practice and obtained the satisfied results.With combing theory with practice as tenet, the new concepts, models and methods are discussed and proposed in this paper. The achieved results are advanced, useful and credible. At the same time, the research results can be adopted and applied to any other rivers.
