As ships sail in high speed, violent collision occurs between the hull and the waves due to thehigh relative movement, which causes the bottom out of the water. When the relative movementreaches critical value of velocity at the moment of boat into water again, slamming load occurs atthe bottom of the bow, bilge, and other areas outside with floating high pressure peaks. Strongslamming would cause serious consequences. Even if the situation of storm is not very bad at seaand the ship suffered little slamming loads, slamming that ongoing chatter will still reduce thefatigue strength of the hull structure. Hull parts would be yielded to slamming or even beendestroyed. It is a transient process of structure dashing into water, this transient process produceshuge pressure on structure. The transient process would cause structural deformation or evenfailure and crash. Therefore, the research on slamming of ship bow is of importance to the safetyof ships. The cross-section of bow of a40meter long yacht has been studied in a way of numericalsimulation. The speed, quality and angle of ship damping into water were determined as mainfactors according to slamming theory. A simulation model of bow hull structure andtwo-dimensional flow field has been established by using numerical simulation software. Theboundary conditions of numerical simulation were established by determining the constraints ofship damping into water, the size of Euler domain and load; the automatic input and generation, and manage of generated data were scheduled by program. Slamming pressure and peak pressurewere described as key parameters in slamming problem to obtain slamming pressure historycurves of the bow during the ship damping into the water. The tendencies of pressure peak ofyacht bow were compared by varying the three key factors. In order to verify the accuracy of the numerical simulation, a finite model with samedimension as open literature has been established. Simulation result shows good agreement withexperimental data.
