Power distribution network is the terminal part attached directly to the user, so improving its power supply reliability is of great significance. Distribution automation technology can improve the operation management level of distribution network, which is of great significance to ensure power grid safety and power supply reliability, and the function of fault location and power restoration is the basis of distribution automation technology, which is of great significance to improve the power supply reliability of distribution network. This article focuses on the fault location and power restoration technology of distribution network.First of all, the fault location principle based on centralized intelligen of the open loop operation distribution network and the closed loop operation distribution network are analyzed respectively, which is based on the fault feature difference between the the fault zone and the un-fault zone; Then analyzes the possibility of multistage differential protection, which can realize through setting different switch action time, and presents a two-stage differential and triple differential protection configuration principle; this paper proposes realizing fault removal selectivity and reducing the influence of fault removal process for the user through combining the intelligent fault location and multistage differential protection.Lastly, analying specific examples.Then, the paper introduces the commonly used power flow calculation methods of distribution network:Newton’s method, busbar method and branch method. Then analyzes the forward-backward sweep detailedly, explains its method and step of calculation.The last part of this paper introduces the power supply recovery based on heuristic rules of the distribution network. According to the requirement of the distribution network power supply recovery, the paper summarizes the objective function and constraint conditions of the power supply recovery; According to the actual operating experience, the paper summes up the power supply recovery heuristic rules in common use. Analyses the recovery process only considering the switches contacting directly to the area losing power, the whole area, partition recovery and determine the recovery process of load rejection; Based on the heuristic rules to realize a certain regional power grid power supply recovery.
