Voltage is an important indicator to characterize the merits of power quality, reactive power and voltage control strategy is an important way to improve voltage quality. A good voltage and reactive power control strategy can serve to enhance the quality of the grid voltage, to improve system power factor and to reduce system network losses and to keep a safe and economic operation of the power grid, so it is necessary to research the voltage and reactive power control strategy.Regional power grid voltage and reactive power control system (AVC System) is an important way and an commonly used method for controlling voltage and reactive power, and it is the focus of this paper. AVC system optimizes reactive power and voltage control functions in whole network, in practice, can adjust the power output of reactive power in many ways, including controlling a variety of reactive power source, controlling compensation equipment, switching regulator and transformer connectors, etc. it is a good way to control voltage and power to create a safe and economic operation mode of power grid.This paper introduces the basic common voltage and reactive power control method, the comparative analysis of voltage and reactive power optimization scheme used at home and abroad and mainly in Ningbo grid as the research object, as well as the reactive power and voltage control method to adapt the grid. Based on the introduction of the AVC system, the results with the AVC System in Ningbo grid implementation are discussed, and testing systems were implemented, including the open-loop and closed-loop operation test system to verify the system feasible. The proposed control strategies are used to achieve optimization of voltage and reactive power control, based on dynamic partitioning of classification.Research is meaningful for the voltage and reactive power control and its optimization.
