Train positioning system is an important component in train control system to ensure the safety of railway, promote the capacity and improve the transportation efficiency. In recent years, higher requirements have been put forward on it because of the increasing pressure of rail transport and the rapid development of High-speed Railway. Research on train positioning problem is becoming a top priority in signal control system.Firstly, this paper summarizes the current status of the development of train positioning, as well as the research on it based on multi-sensor information fusion. Then, this paper studies the most commonly used train positioning method based on speed sensor and analyzes the reasons of the error and error detection and compensation. Conclusions about that it can’t detect errors exactly, especially the error result from slip and slide. Finally, the method of train positioning based on multi-sensor fusion is put forward which includes speed sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope, transponder. The positioning algorithm is also analyzed and designed. This paper uses the kalman filter which is good at noise filtering to process data. The efficiency and accuracy is proved by test data.The positioning algorithm proposed in this paper uses the speed sensor as the core, and the accelerometer is used as auxiliary to detect and compensate the positioning error. Also, the train positioning algorithm based on curvature information is studied. These algorithms are proved to improve the accuracy and stability in positioning theoretically through math deduction.To prove the practicality of the algorithms, this paper sets up the simulation platform of train operation control system. In this paper, the circuit design of the on-board platform with the STM32based on the ARM Cortex-M3processor as the core processor and the design of the PCB board are completed. The on-board platform can drive the locomotives and collect the positioning information. Also, it can meet the need of validation for positioning algorithm in hardware.In software, the procedures for locomotive driver, information collection and positioning algorithm fusion are completed firstly. Then, the paper designs the human-computer interface with C#which can realize two-way communication between locomotive and PC, and store the data collected automatically and display the information in real-time. Finally, the algorithm for detecting and compensating the positioning error based on accelerometer is tested and validated with MATLAB and data collected. The results verify that this algorithm can reduce the positioning error, improve the accuracy of the train positioning and promote the reliability of the positioning system.
