The pier scour is one of the primary causes for washout of bridge. Lots of factors influences pier scour and the flow structure around of pier is also complex. The diving flow, horseshoe whirlpool, wake flow whirlpool and freeing small whirlpool formed the complex flow structure near the pier. Although a large number of experiments and analysis for pier scour by many specialists at home and abroad, the pier scour protection is still in exploration stage. The traditional protection ways are passive resistance pier scour. The text researches a new type of protection structure that installed on the pier. Its name is "Ring-wing anti-scour plate".The ring-wing anti-scour plate active reduces the diving flow washing pier, so as to protect pier.Under the working condition that three kinds of flow combined different anti-scour plate, the text measured the maximum depth of scour hole and three-dimensional instantaneous velocity. By analyzing the maximum depth of scour hole, three-dimensional time-mean velocity near the pier and three-dimensional relatively turbulence intensity near the pier, obtaining the optimal anti-scour plate type and computational formula of the maximum depth of scour hole. The main results are as follows:(1) About2-2section:Half round anti-scour plate’s time-mean lengthways velocity range of variation is more than round anti-scour plate. After setting up anti-scour plate, the time-mean lengthways velocity is extreme in0.3times depth of water of line2. Setting up anti-scour plate decreases obviously vertical velocity near the bottom of riverbed. Overall transverse relatively turbulence intensity is greater than no anti-scour plate.(2) About5-5section:Before and after setting up anti-scour plate, time-mean lengthways velocity distribution shape is similar. Half round anti-scour plate’s decrease degree goes near to lengthways relatively turbulence intensity of round anti-scour plate. Under the round anti-scour plate, the measured points’s vertical relatively turbulence intensity is greater than half round anti-scour plate.(3) Half round and round anti-scour plate affect three-dimensional time-mean velocity of all sections’s line2, their effect is much the same.(4) Half round and round anti-scour plate’s effect is better than round and round anti-scour plate. The long axis and short axis are bigger, the effect is better.
