:With the enlarging urban scale and steadily increasing population in Beijing, the pressure of urban traffic is also growing. While as the city traffic gradually demands are going into diversification, Function as the middle volume level between the massive transit and normal transit the straddle-type monorail system will serve as effective supplements and become an integral part of the city comprehensive transportation system.During the one-year practice in Beijing urban construction design&development group co.limted, the author focus on the subject named the research on the applicability and planning of middle capacity track-transportation in Beijing, which shows that Beijing is trying hard to introduce the middle capacity track-transportation with the straddle-type monorail system, meanwhile, pre-research and network palnning are being employed in the key functional areas and new zones around Beijing. Line of Yuquan road, the first straddle-type monorail system, has been in the first level of design with early-time plan and research. The author was mainly engaged in the related work of the planning stage of this line and preliminary design stage. This thesis is based on the results of the author’s work in Beijing urban construction design&development group co.limted, and takes the specific circumstances of Beijing and the characteristics of the straddle-type monorail in account, introducing the system mainly from the function, application technology and making comparison between different sorts of public transits, and providing a reference and basis for the construction of straddle-type monorail system in Beijing. Then the main conclusions are as follow:Firstly, according to the analysis of the construction backgrounds and different orientation of cases of the straddle-type monorail system home and abroad, I will propose the demands and the construction of the paths for the system in Beijing as a reference.Secondly, this dissertation discusses the transport capacity and speed, the technical feature of line, the layout of stations, and the key techniques of straddle-type monorail system. Conclusions about the feasibility of straddle-type monorail existed in Beijing and applicable qualification of different technical schemes are drawn.Thirdly, this dissertation compares the straddle-type monorail system and other track-transportation modes(mainly with light rail system and modern tram system)from three aspects:function, energy consumption and economy in detail and other aspects as: flexibility, environmental friendliness and comfort. The advantage and disadvantage of straddle-type monorail system are listed and it is suitable for Beijing to develop it.In the finality, this dissertation takes straddle-type monorail transport in design of Beijing as an instance to analyze the applied technical schemes and proposes specific project implementation.
