With the rapid development of transport in China, more and more continuousrigid-frame bridges have been widely applied to the practical engineering. Thecontinuous rigid-frame bridges with high piers, which have an enormous advantage infour aspects, economy, applicable, safe and beautiful, especially in the Southwestand Northwest, where the ground condition is poor and the terrain is very tuff. In recentyears, frequent earthquake, the most severe natural disaster in the world, attractedpeople’s attention again. While earthquake frequently occurred in the areas, and theearthquake disaster data about this kind of bridges is not abundant. So,it is veryimportant to study the seismic response of the continuous rigid-frame bridge. As a transit hub for road, the bridge has different seismic requirements from otherbuildings. When the earthquake happen, the bridge is very important to maintain thesmooth flow of traffic lines; for the bridge cost is high and repair-ment is hard andexpensive,to minimize the damage is also necessary.Firstly, this paper gives brief descriptions and the structural characteristics ofcurved continuous rigid-frame bridge. Then briefly introduces earthquake damages andthe current anti-seismic research status. Secondly, this article simple recommends thebasic theories of seismic response analysis, emphatically representing responsespectrum analysis method and dynamic history analysis method. Thirdly, building thefinite element model under the engineering background of a curved continuousrigid-frame bridge with high piers and long spans, and then analyzing the dynamicbehaviors, mainly including the natural vibration character and seismic response.Furthermore, considering the influence of pile-soil interaction and traveling wave effecton the seismic response, some finite element models are established, and mainlyresearches the influence of different boundary conditions, different curvature radius anddifferent seismic excitation directions on the earthquake response, finally, somebeneficial conclusions are obtained which can provide reference for the research anddesign of similar bridges.
