Snowdrift a common turbulence mixed with snow grains in the seasonal frozenregion. When the disaster occurs, snow grains flying, road visibility becoming lowsharply and drivers hard to judge the road driving conditions, all of that easily causesaccidents. A lot of snow deposits on the pavement and roadside,which might blockstraffic,or even paralyses the traffic lines,causes huge economic losses. Snow removalprocess not only increased traffic congestion again,but also causes significant damage tothe pavement and pavement facilities whose service life and safety factor isreduced.Researches on the development and distribution of snowdrift is drawing moreand more attention. There is important theoretical and practical significance forimproving traffic safety and road durability in the seasonal frozen region.On the basis of summing up previous studies,this paper first studied the forcebearing of snow grains,finded that the power factor of snow grains’s depositing is thechange of wind velocity gradient, furthermore knew that the distrubition of snowgrains’s depositing is closely related to the distribution of wind velocity flow field.Thispaper analyzed the substances and dynamic conditions of producingsnowdrift,furthermore studied the whole process from snow grains’start to snowdrift’sSaturation and provided related formulae.Then this paper studied the road and naturalinfluencing factors of snowdrift disaster,mainly studied changes of wind speed, startingconditions and snowdrift’s morphology under that two factors.By taking Jilin Province for example,the paper analyzed characteristics of climateand rules of temporal and spatial distribution in the seasonal frozen region,mainlystudied the temporal and spatial distribution of temperature, barometric pressure, windspeed, precipitation and snowfall in spring and winter when snowdrift has a frequentoccurrence.The paper analyzed snowdrift’s vertical and horizontal distribution in thesnowdrift disaster area.This paper established hydrodynamic model to analyze pure single-phase turbulentair field instead of snow-air two-phase turbulence.Using Fluent to figure out changes ofwind flow field near the road space,to find wind speed deceleration areas,which reflectslaw of grains’s depositing.Using computational fluid dynamics to Determine the distribution of horizontal acceleration and snow line,and find the law of snowdrift.Finally,the paper studied treatment of snowdrift on roads in the seasonal frozenregion,analyzed mechanisms of common of these treatment,pointed out the problemsshould be payed attention to and suggested relative parameters.This study is supported by “Research on Rapid maintenance and Security Indemnification Technology to Cope with Extreme Weather Conditions for Highway in Seasonally Frozen Region”, a project of Western Region Transportation Scientific and Technological Projects of Ministry of Communications.
