With the acceleration of the process of urbanization and motorization,the staff’s travel characteristics and travel rules are constantly changing in almost all the domestic cities.In order to fully understand urban traffic characteristics,many cities are paying more and more attention to traffic investigations to get the latest datas of travel characteristics,for the purpose of supporting urban transportation planning and management.The traditional travel survey methods are difficult to obtain the real-time and wide-area travel imformation due to reasons such as prodigious cost,long survey period,etc.With the development of mobile positioning and wireless communication network signaling monitoring platform technology,in combination with the signaling data,billed data of the wireless communication network,by using the quite popular personal mobile phone as traffic detector,we can get closer to the travel imformation of all staff.The method can compensate for traditional travel survey methods to get wide-area, large-scale, real-time travel imformation.This paper aims at the adoption of the new technology,in combination with the mobile phone signaling data provided by communication operators,through the appropriate model algorithm processing,then retrieves travel characteristics data and analyzes travel characteristics of residents.On this basis,in combination with the regional(Chongqing one-hour economic circle) travel OD data anylyzed from the mobile signaling data to calibrate and update the regional trip distribution models,in order to provide theoretical support and technical guidance for regional trip distribution prediction.The main research contents are as follows:From the perspective of mobile communication, systematically summarizes the basic theoretical knowledge of communication,including GSM mobile communication system,mobile positioning technology,and the mobile phone handover location is determined as the mobile positioning method used in this paper.On this basis,introduces the relevant switch control theory knowledge.From the perspective of transportation, generalizes about the connotation of the residents’ travel, and proposes to identify the mobile handset travel through the mobile residence time; carefully analyzes the travel characteristics measurement such as travel times, travel modes, travel purposes,etc. analyzes the two trip survey methods, and their strengths and weaknesses.Carefully analyzes the processes of mobile signaling data acquisition and preprocessing, then deeply analyzes the characteristics of mobile signaling data. On this basis, the paper designs the research program of regional travel characteristics based on mobile signaling technology, defines the regional context of this paper, and in-depth study of key techniques of signaling analysis. Finally, taking Chongqing as an example, through some instances such as travel OD distribution, travel destinations distribution, travel time distribution to verify the feasibility and applicability of phone signaling data applied to traffic analysis.Putting forward a new application of mobile phone signaling technology-update of regional trip distribution model. By using regional(Chongqing one-hour economic circle) travel OD data acquired from the mobile signaling data, calibrating and updating the modified gravity modle that is commonly used,then determine the suitable scope of the model parameters,in order to get a suitable trip distribution model for the study area.
