| A plenty of surrounding artifacts have been serving for convenient life and varieties ofdemands of people all the times, in a modest, natural state of being. The artificiality, whichimpressed the sense of "Extremely Normal" on people in terms of appearance, use andsynthetic evaluation, was entitled "Super Normal"according to some contemporarydesigners.Consequently, the "Super Normal"design view accorded with an idea what theconcept characterized for the quality of a kind of daily products. The thesis aimed at attachingimportance on the generalization of design values for daily products usually have beenignored towards the nature of design, and how to reveal the meaning of normal productsagainst consumerism and personal creativeness, then creating better experiences of them. The thesis is divided into three segments of research:the concept, attributes of "SuperNormal"and design methods.First and foremost,it laid emphasis on the connotation of "SuperNormal" concept via comparison of design cases and historical retrospection, indicating thatconsistent existence in design history. The thesis also conducted research on the expressivestyle of "Super Normal" daily products design in respects of function, perception andaesthetics on the basis of elucidating "Super Normal" concept, while comparing it with relativedesign styles and concepts with further case study. In addition, it has profoundly analyzedphilosophical thinkings about the emotional definition of"Super Normal" in relation to theview of ethics, uses and aesthetics, which are corresponded to the democracy, scientificity andexperience of design respectively. Moreover, it put forward a multilevel, non-linear designmethodology from the attributes derived from horizontal and vertical study on "SuperNormal"design concept. The thesis summarized that:"Super Normal"focused on evaluation of design andcorresponding user experience. It has combined the view of matter and objects,as well asexperience design with insistent vitality and continuity, based on the spontaneous and simpleoutlook for designing. It pointed out that the essential design targets for daily life, heritage ofhistorical design context and the experience of zen,are design values of "Super Normal". As tothe methodology it has three phases which are the design for concept, for appearance andperformance evaluation for iterative design including a series of methods like scenarioanalysis, functional archetype tests, optimization in forms and PPP and USS evaluation toolsfor the consummation of design by continuous modification and evolution,in order to thecharacteristics and values of "Super Normal". |
