Electrochemical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs), also known assupercapacitors, are energy storage devices that store charges through physisorptionof electrolyte ions onto porous carbon electrodes. Due to their high power density, long cycle life and fast charge capability, supercapacitors have been used in variousapplications, such as hybrid electric vehicles, mobile electronic devices, emergencydoors on jet planes and standby power systems. Activated carbon have beenextensively studied for supercapacitor electrodes because of their large specificsurface area, high conductivity, well chemical stability, abundant raw materials, lowcost and easy processing ability. Coal is abundant and reliable in Xinjiang, thereforeuse coal for preparing activated carbon technology has been attracted more and moreattention. In this research, activated carbon prepared from xinjiang kuche coal assupercapacitors electrode. The activated carbon characterized by Raman spectrum, specific surface area and pore size distribution analyzer. The electrochemicalperformance of the activated carbon was studied with cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge/discharge, and acimpedance spectroscopy. Mainly includes thefollowing aspects:(1) Activated carbon was prepared by single and two-stage activation method usingKOH as activator, the effect of different activation method on the structure andelectrochemical properties of activated carbon were researched.(2) Activated carbons were prepared using different acidic and alkaline activators, such as H3PO4, ZnCl2, NaHCO3and KHCO3, the effect of different activators on thestructure and electrochemical properties of activated carbon were researched.(3) Porous carbon was prepared from activated carbon by using KOH as anactivating agent. The precursor of activated carbon was prepared from coal usingH3PO4, ZnCl2and NaHCO3as activator. The effect of KOH activation on the structureand electrochemical properties of activated carbon were researched...
