Urban road traffic system is the very complex dynamic systems composed of thetraffic participants such as pedestrians, vehicles, roads, environment and the elementswith the complexity, randomness, instability and influenced by many other thecharacteristic factors. With the rapid social and economic development, urban vehiclevolume and the amount of traffic travel are increasing year by year, which led to aserious road traffic congestion, rising accident rates, decline in vehicle speeds, increasing environmental pollution and some a serious problems in cities. The adverseeffects of urban road traffic to the society and urban environment were more and moreobvious, already has become an obstacle to the economic development of cities. When considering the traffic travel a few years in the future, most of the urban roadnetwork in populated areas will reach its maximum capacity or will not be able tomeet the increasing demand. At this time, analyzing and testing, and development of asystem capable of making better use of existing infrastructure is very urgent task. Therefore, the application of computer simulation technology has become an effectivetechnological means. For generating traffic information, the modeling and simulation of traffic flow isone of the most promising strategies. The efficiency of microscopic simulationmodels is enough to reproduce the volume of entire networks in real time. In order toget correct traffic states in various situations. In order to get correct in various trafficsituations, such as bottlenecks, traffic status of intersections, the details of the vehicleoperations have to be defined carefully. Therefore, a signalized intersectionmicroscopic simulation model based on the road network grid is presented in thepaper. This model is characterized by:(1) refined the road section and intersectionarea of the CA model.(2) The running status of the vehicle were consideredrespectively on the road section and intersection area, such as free driving, car-following and lane changing behavior, restriction of intersection to the vehicle. Finally, Single signalized intersections simulation platform is built, and verified thereliability of the model by analyzing the simulation results and the observed data. Theobtained traffic flow characteristic information can provide the basis for trafficguidance, traffic assignment and signal timing. To be more careful description of the road sections and the vehicle running stateson the intersections, a single grid-based signalized intersection simulation model waspresented in this paper. The model refinement cellular automata (CA) model roadnetwork and intersections ideas, which make up the deficiency in the CA modelsimulation aspects of the intersection, and further improve the setting of vehicle sizeand microscopic simulation visualization. A signal crossing traffic flow simulationplatform was established in this paper, a two-dimensional simulation of the entranceof each intersection traffic lanes and turning proportions and other data. Thecomparison found that the simulation output results were consistent with the observedvalues to verify the reliability of the model. The traffic flow characteristics of a largenumber of data can be predict in a short time through the traffic simulation, such asflow, density and speed. These traffic information can provide the basis for real-timeinduced traffic, traffic assignment, has an important significance in reducing urbantraffic congestion and road network developed signalized intersection control otheraspects of decision-making.Finally, it was summed up the whole work, and pointed out the direction forfurther research and development focus for future traffic flow problems.
