In rolling steel production, the temperature in soaking pit is an important factoraffecting the quality of steel products, while the control of exhausting soaking pitsmoke valve directly affects its stability of temperature and energy utilization ratio.Intelligent valve positioner in this paper is the core attachment of pneumaticregulatingvalve which usually used in gas pipeline, it can improve the dynamic characteristics,response speed, accuracy and control of flexibility of the valve.The design in this paper uses the idea of "integration" and combine the actuatorin the traditional valve control system with the intelligent controller.it takesSTC2C5A60S2singlechip as the core of the control system, receives set signaltransmitted by upper monitor and feedback signal transmitted by A/D converter,thenoperations on digital signal to control output. This design used the fuzzy self-tuningPID control algorithm which makes the system more intelligent and the robustnessand efficiency has been proved by its simulation results.This paper introduces design of the controller’s hardware and software, anddeveloped intelligent pneumatic valve positioner used for exhausting soaking pitsmoke valve, which can realize the function of valve controlling, displaying the valveposition, detecting the system and other features. The positioning accuracy, robustnessand stability of the intelligent valve positioner is verified by spot testing, and theresults show that the intelligent valve positioner meets the design requirements.
