Not only the analysis of structures based on energy concept has definite conceptand simple form, but it can provide an overall failure state assessment of structures andbetter reflect performance of structures under the ground motion, it has obviousadvantage. The analytic method of structural seismic energy response is increasinglyreceiving attention from the international seismic engineering research. In the paper, structural seismic design methods, the research status, main researchcontents and problems needed to be solved of seismic design method based on energyconcept were summarized; the pile-soil-structure interaction model and its parameterswere introduced in details; the basic concept, theory and calculation method of energyanalysis method were described, and energy analysis method was further described bya calculating example. The influence of soil parameters on total input seismic energy and total hystereticenergy were obtained through seismic energy-based analysis to the pile-soil-structureinteraction model under different seismic motion, and the seismic analysis result ofdisplacement, base shear and hysteretic energy were obtained and compared. Theresults show that, under some different seismic motion, the difference of the largestbase shear is little, and the difference of the largest top displacement is small, but thedifference of the total hysteretic energy is obvious. In certain cases, the judgment ofweak layer in terms of displacement and in terms of hysteretic energy are different, namely the floor has the largest storey drift does not mean it also has the biggesthysteretic energy, and vice versa. It has pointed out that energy analysis should beadded into structural seismic design to ensure its safety. The influence of soil, storey yield strength coefficient, seismic wave spectrum, max seismic wave acceleration, damping ratio and post yield stiffness coefficient onstorey hysteretic energy distribution were investigated qualitatively, and some of theresults can offer some help to structural seismic design and energy analysis.
