Slacking properties of red bed soft rock always brings security risks and damageto the construction which causes enormous economic and social loss. Current researchon the methods of eliminating the slacking properties of red beds soft rock andcontrolling the deformation of red beds soft rock under the action of water inconstruction is not sufficient. To solve above problems, the research funded by theNational Natural Science Foundation in this thesis studied the fractal regulation ofparticle size distribution in the slacking process of the red beds soft rock and theapplication in the construction.Firstly, The relationship between the probability of particle slacking and Particlesize has been established by the study of particle size distribution and its developmentregulation in the process of slacking and crushing of red beds soft rock, consideringthe randomness in the slacking and crushing of particles. On the basis of the fractaltheory, the mathematical model was been established, to represent the slackingprocess of red beds soft rock. The simulation results verified that the relationshipbetween the probability of particle slacking and particle size is effective. And theresults further explained that the random slacking of soft rock is a fractal process.Secondly, basing on the compaction test of the soft rock fillings, the particle sizedistribution of soft rock fillings and its development regulation in the compacting testhave been studied. According to results, the relation between the fractal dimensionvalue and the compaction times, and the relationship between dry density and numberof compaction operations can be obtained. The effects of the fractal dimension valueand dry density on the expansion deformation and compression deformation of redbeds soft rock fillings was studied on basis of immersion test and compression test indifferent compaction degree. The index of the fractal dimension value and dry densitywere obtained. The index can effectively control the expansion and compressiondeformation in the soft rock fillings.Finally, according to the compaction test to roadbed of soft rock fillings, thecompaction effect of different mechanical equipment was studied. The constructiontechnology that can effectively control the compaction effect of red beds soft rockfillings was proposed, so that the slacking of red beds soft rock was effectivelyeliminated. And the construction technology could enlarge the application range of red beds soft rock material which means lower construction cost and better benefits.
