It is a window of the university culture and even a distillation of it. Most of theworld-famous universities get more than one museum in their campus while the development in ourcountry is still at a primary stage. With the accumulation of university culture and emphasis paid bythe state, a new construction boom of university theme museum is ongoing through the country.Over the past years, researches on university theme museum both home and abroad were limited tomuseology, tourism, higher education, aesthetics, archaeology etc. and quite a few researchoutcomes were found in the area of interior design. This article presented a thorough, systematicstudy and summary on the interior design of the university theme museum from the perspective ofuniversity culture through field visits, case studies and literature review.This article expounded the generation, development, characteristics, classification of theuniversity theme museum and its relationships with the university culture. A brief summary on thecurrent situation of interior environmental design for the university theme museum was also madein this article. The article was focused on summarizing and researching on the design principles andelements of interior environmental design for the university theme museum. It was mainlyincluding the selection of building’s location and building types and their influences on interiorenvironmental design, interior functional design and specific exhibition zone design. Cases studieswere made to discuss the museum interior environment design method.Finally, the development trend of university theme museums were discussed such as greendesign, low carbon design and other design trends in accordance with the university culture.
