When the wind turbine was installed in cold region. the fan surface even appears phenomenon of icing snow, thus affecting the performance of the wind turbine, even the accident. Therefore, the research of wind turbine blade icing rule and development of reasonable and effective method to control ice is very important. However, preventing and removing ice need to consume large amounts of energy, so how to control the energy consumption of preventing and removing ice to a minimum is very important for designing the preventing and removing ice device and the point of the preventing and removing ice.The structure of horizontal axis wind turbine blade is consists of two parts, one is the front blade airfoil, and the other one is the cylinder wheel at the end of wind turbine blade. So not only we should study the airfoil icing but also study cylinder icing on the horizontal axis wind turbine blade icing. Also according to the laws of the icing we should study how to reduce energy consumption, strengthening effect preventing and removing ice.The research covers two major parts:one is the wind tunnel test study wind on turbine blade airfoil and cylinder icing in different wind speed and wind attack angle. The other one is to conduct the analysis of the icing rate and acceleration by MATLAB simulation, to provide the reference to find the best preventing and removing ice time.The experiment selected the NACA0018and NACA7715airfoil and a diameter of the cylinder as the research object. Using low-speed wind tunnel the experiment are conducted in the wind tunnel laboratory of college of engineering in the northeast agricultural university. Using high speed camera we filmed the icing process of blade and cylinder and analyzed the ice distribution, got the data of different airfoil blade and cylinder icing. By means of curve fitting method we process data from the wind tunnel experiment and obtain the function of one variable—the function of ice growth rate. Then we put the unary function derivation and obtain the function of ice growth acceleration. Finally, we get the following conclusions based on MATLAB:1) The best time of preventing and removing ice between symmetrical airfoil blade airfoil and asymmetric is difference, is roughly the opposite trend.2) The best time of preventing and removing ice should be moved forward with the increase of absolute value of the wind Angle of attack for NACA0018blade; the best time of preventing and removing ice should be moved backward with the increase of absolute value of the wind Angle of attack for NACA7715blade.3) The ice growth acceleration first changes from negative to positive as the change of time on cylinder, then there is a growing trend. The early period of the domain is suited to preventing work, and the later period because of long-span interval is suited to removing work.This research for the wind turbine blade preventing and removing ice provides a theoretical basis,for the optimum utilization of energy and saving production cost provides a new way of thinking..
