In the rapid development of science and technology of today’s society, supported by manytechnology products have sprung up design. People also constantly improve to the requirement ofproduct, which makes high emotional products is more and more people focus on. Product design,therefore, in addition to meet the most basic material function, but also pay more attention to thehumanistic spirit aspects of products. Based on the new point of view, the use of smell design,mainly from the aspects of people’s sense of smell and sense to explore how to make use of theemotional design principles and methods to design the product, improve product quality, designcan better adapt to market demand, attract consumers innovative product. With a large number ofaesthetics, design psychology, science knowledge to support, guide people from feeling and thepsychological level of design thinking again, to get a new emotional experience and psychologicalsatisfaction. Aromatherapy machine is discussed, the improved design as an example, according tothe market and the needs of different use crowd, explore the emotional elements especially smelldesign application in product design.
