The power equipment of the early time mainly adopts periodic maintenance, which does have some shortcomings and insufficiencies. The periodic maintenance is not convenient for the maintenance staffs because it can’t reflect the status of the high voltage electric power equipment for real-time. The development of online monitoring technology makes it possible to monitor running status and detect whether exceptions occur in real time. But the research and development of the online monitoring technology lacks of relevant test instruments, so far only the traditional ones and exisiting high voltage equipment, which aren’t flexible, are being used.Based on the research of on-line monitoring test system, this paper mainly covers the folowing aspects:(1)The discussion of the meaning of online monitoring and testing system, the present situation for the research of it at home and aborad, the development of virtual instrument and its application in the field of power system, and the content and requirements of the on-line monitoring test system,(2)The study of the hardware of virtual instrument, problems needing attention when in use, the software development environment of virtual instruments, and the analyse of the architecture and function module of test system software.(3)The study of corresponding application requirements based on the existing software and hardware platform, the research of the function of high voltage SF6circuit breaker in on-line monitoring test system and transformer precision test, the detailed design the software function modules and the review of the performance of the test platform.Compared with the traditional intrument, virtual instrument has many imcomparable advantages such as convenience and flexiblity. Using the virtual instrument technology, on the basis of the existing hardware platform and combining with LabVIEW development platform, this paper studys the test platform of on-line monitoring equipment, which is mainly used for the function tests for on-line monitoring device and sensor performance. According to experiment using on-line monitoring test system and the transformer precision test system, the test system we developed has high test accuracy, flexibile, extensible, and lowcost.
