Industrial civilization has greatly changed the pattern of people’s life, however, the development of industrial has also required lot of energy. In the21st century, coal, oil, natural gas and other fossil energy consumption grew sharply. The global energy shortages have accelerated the people’s perception of the concept of energy saving, and energy saving has become one of the main goals of technological upgrading and production optimization of China’s electric power industry. By analyzing the high energy consumption equipment of coal-fired power plant, it is found that the pumps and fans account for most of auxiliary power. Based on Jinglong power plant, the load characteristics and energy-saving scheme of the pumps and fans are analyzed. Also the operation optimization and energy saving programs of boiler air heaters, frequency converters, air-cooling systems, boiler feed pumps and so on are studied. Then the advantages of energy conservation plans for Jing Long power plant to reduce coal consumption and electricity consumption are summarized.It can be found that the boiler air heaters are easily made dirty because of the irrationality in structure. However through using rotating-type heaters, ash and other pollutants blocking can be effectively solved,that contribute to a large energy reductions for power plant. The original suction fans output can be adjusted by the entrance of static blades, the adjustment is inefficient and arises many problems during the long running process. By using motor frequency regulation, these problems can be solved. And the high voltage variable frequency transformations of condensation water pumps are also playing an important role in reducing electricity consumption. Besides of these, the other important energy-saving measures of Jinglong plant include:optimizing the direct air cooling system and optimizing the operation of the boiler feed pumps. It can be concluded that the effects of operation optimization and energy saving of Jinglong plant are obvious. And the paper can provide a basis for energy saving of coal-fired power plants.
