With the development of power system, DC transmission, EHV transmission and powerful equipment have been widely used, and the power system running is increasingly complex. The dynamic simulation has become an important part in studying the network. Therefore, the key content of coherency-based equivalence is the identification coherent generators. The accuracy of coherency identification is important to dynamic equivalence.The AHP is used to analyze the network under the small disturbance. The AHP model is set up to identify the generators which combines key factors. This method is useful, but there are still some problems indeed. To solve the lacking of factors, the paper is using the DTW method to get the characteristic parameters. Using Prony signal analysis method, the amplitude, frequency and damping is collect. The node admittance matrix is set up to study the influence of electrical distance in coherency identification. Proposing a fuzzy clustering algorithm with adaptive parameter go in clustering generators parameter. To solve the subjective problems in the process of AHP matrix, based on the IEEE39-bus which the coherency generators have been confirmed, using the matrix similarity measure method to get the relative importance of factors. The reference machine can’t be identified by the AHP method. The generator absolutely angle curves are computed by BPA to get the result that which groups the reference machine belongs to. Simulation results of IEEE118-bus show that this method is accurate and practical.
