Overpass and tunnel structures are important components in highway. With thedevelopment of the highway, in the mountainous terrain surrounding the socio-economicconditions and resource constraints, the proportion of highway tunnel and overpass improvedsignificantly, there have been a space between the tunnel and the interchange of smaller specialsections, resulting in congestion and highway accidents, serious affect the operational safety ofthe highway. In order to improve the safety and operational efficiency of the highway, in thispaper, the tunnel and interchange connection section of the influencing factors of analysis,using the theory of mathematical method from the macroscopic and microscopic traffichighway tunnel and the minimum distance between interchange.First, with the analysis of the relevant regulations and standards research achievementsand on the basis of the construction of tunnel and overpass connecting section, we divided intotwo parts: overpass transition zone and tunnel transition zone. We get the factors between theimpact of the tunnel and overpass connecting segment. Including traffic demand、arangementof the connecting section、traffic flow characteristics、speed、driving comfort、traffic signs、adapting light.For the research of Interchange transition, the main is with combining the macroscopicand microscopic theory of transport technology. As the different characteristics of inlet andoutlet Interchange, With the entrance lane change theory Interchange exit the transition areaand transition area were analyzed, and described by mathematical methods, we made a modelof transition area interchange entrance length calculation and the transition area interchangeexport. Then, based on traffic conflict technique, with simulation software VISSIM asmodeling tools, selecting Evaluation and build safety evaluation system interchange transitionarea, the minimum length is determined to meet the target level of safety (safer) to convert theinterchange area. Finally, the recommended value is calculated by the security evaluationmodel and compare the length of the model, then determined the minimum entranceinterchange conversion zone length.With the study of tunnel transition, conducting research and test on the speed of change inthe import and export of the tunnel, finding out the relationship between the tunnel entrancesand vehicle speed change position, on the basis of existing relevant research results, wedetermined the minimum length of the transition section of the tunnel entrance. Finally, wedetermine the minimum spacing values tunnel and overpass with the minimum length of theoverpass conversion zone.This paper provides a strong theoretical guidance and reference for the system to resolve small spacing tunnel and overpass design problems, and provides new methods, new ideas toexisting requirements for tunnels and interchange spacing specifications, having some practicalsignificance.
