The designing and construction is closely related in building of cable-stayed bridges. Different construction methods will lead to different results. Construction stage is one of the critical links in building of cable-stayed bridges. So the monitoring of the construction for cable-stayed bridges is necessary. Based on the construction monitoring and control of Tianshui No.l bridge, The main research contents and results are as follows.(1) The methods of construction monitoring and control are reviewed, and then, a proper scheme is put forward for Tianshui No1bridge.(2) Each construction stage is computed by MAD AS CIVIL. After that, the reasons of the error between the measured value and the theoretical value are further analyzed. Although the bridge is still in construction, the theoretical value is in good agreement with the measured value in the first4construction segments.(3) In theory, there is only one set of initial cable forces that can make the final cable forces in full compliance with the designed cable forces. In order to get this set of initial cable forces, three methods are used in this paper, namely backward-calculation methods, differential method and the iterative of backward-calculation and forward-calculation method. Combining backward-calculation method with differential method, a new optimized method is proposed.(4) It will be affected by many parameters in the process of the cable-stayed bridge’s construction. However, different parameters affect the stress state of the structure in different degree. In this paper, the sensitivity of the beam’s weight, structural stiffness and the cable force is analyzed. According to sensitivity analysis, the beam’s weight and the cable force should be strictly controlled in the construction.
