The expansion of the city, the improvement of people’s living standard and therapidly increasing of traffic demand, lead to serious urban problems: pollution,congestion, traffic accidents always threatens people’s health and safety. As a way toguide the traffic flow reasonably, ease traffic congestion and traffic conflict, trafficcontrol became the most important method to govern the urban traffic problem.However, with the expansion of the urban areas, traffic is becoming more and morecomplex, the existing traffic control system in dealing with real-time trafficinformation, the implementation of regional coordination control aspects malpractice ismore and more obvious. Cloud computing technology is famous for its powerfulcomputing power, storage capacity and simple programming model, it implements theinformation interaction and no boundary. Therefore the research of the traffic controlsystem based on cloud computing can greatly improve the ability of real-timeprocessing, storage and so on, to lay a foundation to implement the strategy of regionalor even a wide range of traffic coordinated control.This paper first introduces the related knowledge of urban traffic control system,expands working principle and structure of coordinated control system, and analyzesthe existing traffic control system, points out it can’t realize the intersection or regionalcoordination in the traffic control, and has poor real-time performance. Throughanalysis and study of cloud computing and its key technologies, this paper creativelyputs forward that combine the cloud computing technology and traffic control, to buildurban traffic control system based on cloud strategy. This paper design the trafficcontrol cloud platform from four aspects: analyzes the composition of traffic controlcloud platform and the usage patterns, put forward to use virtual machine software tobuild the environment of traffic control cloud platform, research the node deploymentmodel of the cloud platform, adopts the node calculation model to realize the balancebetween nodes, then through the SOA service structure, design service directory andservice interface for traffic control. The article constructs the traffic control cloudstrategy system includes cloud computing resource management subsystem, regionalcoordination control subsystem and traffic information query subsystem, and analyzethe main technology of the regional coordination control subsystem. This paper finally attempt to verify preliminary of the implementation of trafficcontrol system from three aspects: hardware, software and virtual machine, structurescloud computing platform and the function of each subsystem was analyzed andstudied. Finally, from testing the system average response time and the average energyconsumption, we can know that the cloud computing platform in the greater controlarea and the more control nodes, the performance are stronger.
