The Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor is a new kind of optical fiber sensors, which uses the propertythat the Bragg wavelength is sensitive to the external physical quantities, such as temperature and strain.The Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor as a kind of optical passive components has been developingrapidly in recent yeas, which is a new research field of optoelectronic technology. We can use it to measurevarious physical parameters,it has its own advantages compared with the traditional sensors, such asimmunity from electromagnetic fields, good insulation, small volume, light weight, fast response, highsignal-to-noise ratio, high sensitivity and corrosion resistance, etc. Recently, the detection technology basedon fiber Bragg grating sensors has been successfully applied to monitor the bridge health, oil and power,aerospace and rail safety and so on.In recently years, high-speed railway is developing rapidly in our country, more and more people payattention to the safe operation of the train. Considering the gear box is an important part of high-speed rail,and its working condition directly affects the safety of trains, so we need to grasp the operation situation ofthe gear box every time to ensure its normal work. Because of the high spin of the gear box, it willinevitably produce vibration and fever, the vibration and fever of the gear box can indirectly reflect theworking state of the gear box, such as abnormal vibration and the high heating temperature. Theseaccidental phenomenons are likely to be caused by the gear box fault. When the gear box stop, it is difficultto find the occasional exception problems, so it is necessary to do online real-time monitoring of the gearbox, we can timely find and solve this kind of undesirable phenomenon to avoid the occurrence of majoraccidents and ensure the safety of our life more well. Because the fiber Bragg grating sensor can resistanceto electromagnetic interference and adapt to the narrow space installation, this paper design the onlinereal-time monitoring system for the vibration of the gear box of high-speed rail by using the fiber Bragggrating sensor and also analyze the test results.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1.The development of optical fiber grating technology is mainly introduced in this paper, meanwhile,studying the principle of fiber Bragg grating sensor and the wavelength of the optical fiber Bragg grating sensor demodulation technology.2.We have designed the vibration monitoring system of the gear box,which is based on the fiberBragg grating sensor, and have discussed the composition and characteristic of the system andimplementing the online real-time monitoring of the gear box vibration.3.With the analysis and study of the collected gear box vibration signal, verifying the feasibility of themonitoring system.
