Abstract:The skew box girder bridge is very common in bridge engineer, which has extremely complicated mechanics behavior for its skew angle. The total mechanics behavior and that of the corner region for such a skew multi-box girder bridge is studied in this paper with the numerical analysis method. The main work and achievements are as follow.1. The applicability has been discussed of a solid element model, a slab element model and several other model for such a skew box girder bridge used the software ANSYS.2. The general mechanics behavior include the support reactions, longitudinal moment, transverse moment, torsion, primary moment, primary axial force and the primary stress has been studied based on a45degree skew box girder. And, we develop all that mechanics characteristics into the other kind of skew box girder while the skew angle changes from0to75degree.3. We have studied the mechanics characteristics of the roof and bottom deck of such skew box girder with different constraints by compared that with the general skew slab to find out stresses and forces distribution of them.4. The width span ratio, support stiffness, transverse diaphragm rigidity and the web thickness which influence a lot for the total mechanics behavior as well as the roof and bottom deck of such skew box girder has been studied to find out the mechanics change regulations, while the regulations are useful for designers.5. By the comparison of a general box girder and a skew one considered the corner mechanics behavior while the skew angle and stem size varied, we find out the mechanics parameter change regulations in the corner and give reinforcement suggestions to decrease the stress and force in that area.6. Based on the achievements above, we give the suggestions of the reinforcement bars design and construction measures in the roof, bottom deck and the corner, which are available for designers.
