ZTH Dragon Arch Bridge is a half-through curved steel box girder arch bridge with a V-shaped Rigid-frame, and its span composition is (2×30+80+2×30) m. The bridge has four steel-concrete composite segments, which are symmetrical. The structure and force situation of steel-concrete composite segment are complex, and it is difficult to take structure details into consideration in the analysis of the whole bridge. In this paper, the mechanical behavior of the steel-concrete composite segment at the main arch is studied by means of FEM analysis and model test. The major work is summarized as follows:1. Based on the results of the space finite element analysis of the bridge and the steel-concrete composite segment, five model testing conditions were determined2. Comprehensive consideration of various factors, the model similarity ratio of1:5was determine, an testing model are designed and produced, and the design of the testing scheme for each test condition was completed.3. The model test loading conditions were Simulated. By building spatial finite element model of test model and Comparing the results with real bridge finite element calculation of the steel-concrete composite segment, the validity of the loading scheme was confirmed.4. Four kinds of load conditions and one kind of overloading test were achieved. The experimental results revealed that the finite element analysis results were agreeable to the experimental results. The structure of steel-concrete composite segment was reasonable, and the force ransmission was smooth; After completion of the five test conditions, the testing model is in linear elasticity, the steel-concrete composite segment has sufficient carrying capacity, and there is a large surplus. The research results provide basis for the steel-concrete composite segment design at the main arch of ZTH Dragon Arch Bridge, and in the meantime give some references to the design of other similar structures.
