Abstract:With the rapid development of social economy, there are so many highways have been built.However they can’t adapt to the rapid traffic growth. In our country most of the highways use the old road widening scheme to solve this problem at present. The highway widening in our country has just been started, so there is no mature experience that can guide the Widening Project. So studying on the technical parameters of the highway subgrade widening project has practical significance. This paper does some research about the widening project based on the theory of the new and old roadbed’s technical parameters in china and abroad the main research is the following:1. Based on the approaches that are used in the highway widening project, this paper summarizes several splicing methods. The paper uses the ANSYS to accomplish finite element analysis that is combined with a practical widening project in china, it can the reveal the mechanism of different splicing modes.2. In this paper, through the comparison of the digging steps’ mechanism and the study of different slop cutting ratio and design parameters’influence on subgrade settlement, the most reasonable design parameters are achieved.3. It is very important to reinforce in to enhance the new and old roadbed’s capability of resisting deform when the approaches that are used in setting the steps or slope cutting splicing can’t meet the engineering requirements in the highway widening project. This paper selects the reinforced geogrid as research object to study it’s mechanism of action, then the influence by different geogrid reinforcement parameters on the settlement of the roadbed is discussed, finally through the analysis and comparison we can find out the most reasonable design parameters.
