With the sustained and rapid development of economy and technology, people’s material life level is improved constantly. Meanwhile, it is obvious that economic development is in conflict with resources and environment, also the conflict is becoming more and more serious. The natural resources of our country, especially forest, has been gradually exhausted, per capita consumption is lower than the world average level, our environment problem, such as "white pollution", is on the rise. In this form, wood-plastic composite material rises in response to the proper time and conditious, but the application or research of this material as building load-bearing structure is lip-deep, especially in what using in concrete composite structure.Therefore, this article combined wood-plastics with concrete form composite members. To show the mechanical properties of wood plastics-concretc composite column, five specimens were designed and manufactured, including one ordinary reinforced concrete column as contrast, one pure wood plastic column as contrast, two wood plastic-reinforced concrete columns with different reinforcement rate and one wood plastic-plain concrete column. The related experiment data is obtained by axial compression test, the basic mechanics performance of wood plastics-concrete composite column under the load is studied, its ultimate bearing capacity, load-displacement relationship and the relationship between load and strain are compared with that of ordinary reinforced concrete column. The test results show that, compared with wood plastic-plain concrete column with the same conditions, wood plastic-reinforced concrete column’s bearing capacity can be greatly improved, and the characteristics of plastic failure under axial compression is significant; the main factors influence the bearing capacity of wood plastic-reinforced concrete column are:the core zone of concrete strength, the longitudinal stress in concrete, the mechanical properties of steel and wood plastic materials.Based on the test results, the wood-plastic column, reinforced concrete columns and wood plastic-concrete composite square section cylinder were simulated by finite element analysis software ABAQUS. And the simulation results and the experimental results are in good agreement.
