As the main driving energy of the industry, compressed air accounts for almost10%of the total energy consumption of the plant. And about96%of energyconsumption is consumed by air compressors, so energy-saving of air compressorbecomes the focus of the companies and researchers as the energy situationbecomes more and more severe.The power consumption of screw air compressors is analyzed and the formulasof isentropic adiabatic compression power and volumetric efficiency are given.Then combined with compression power and volume flow, the model of energyconsumption of compressors is established and simulated using MATLAB to provethe existence of the optimal value of unload pressure. Based on frequency ofload/unload of compressor the control method is proposed.Against the traditional control methods which load and unload compressorsfollowing by the static queue, a control method based on dynamic queue isproposed considering energy conservation and healthy operation of the aircompressor. To minimize energy consumption, one advanced control method basedon the trend of pressure changes and the estimate of flow demand is proposed. Andthe optimal combination of running for the cycle in a day is given using dynamicprogramming methods.Based on LabWindows/CVI, an energy-saving software of compressors groupcontrol system is designed. And it is of great significance to take the compressoroperating parameters, the gas plant condition monitoring and management intoconsideration, so the energy conservation can be achieved and at the same time thedemand of gas consumption can be met, what’s more, the safety of the device canalso be guaranteed. Finally,this article combines air compressor reconstruction project of Shan Xi Zhang Shan power plant Phase II(2*600MW)project, fully verifythe effectiveness of the system, The project has achieved good economic and socialbenefits.
