WAMS has the feature of synchronization in time and wide range in space. Byreasonably allocate PMUs, the harmonic state estimation of the whole power net can bedone with limited PMU. For the flaws of existing methods of harmonic state estimationfor power system, total least squares method considering measurement error andparameter error is adopt to make the harmonic state estimation. Due to the disability toresist the gross error, this paper brings up Robust total least squares for harmonic stateestimation. This paper also analyses existing harmonic source location problem, andproposes harmonic source location based on WAMS, to make up for the shortcomings ofthe current methods. Based on harmonic state estimation result from synchronizedinformation, and the linear and nonlinear characters of the load, the location of theharmonic source is found.This paper describes the structural principle of WAMS. Analysis of the existingharmonic state estimation methods. In the existing harmonic state estimation methods.Least squares and the method which based on least squares are used widely. Thesemethod are not considered parameter error. However, in the real system the exact valueof the parameters is difficult to obtain. Parameter errors are bound to exist. Therefore, thetotal least squares which both considers the measurement error and parameter error isused for harmonic state estimation. This paper analyzes the defect of total least squaresthat it is less capable of resisting gross error and proposes the robust total least squares isused for harmonic state estimation. Simulation results showed that the proposedalgorithm is compared with the current harmonic state estimation can inhibit the affectsof parameter errors and gross errors effectively and can improve the accuracy.This paper does research on the problem of power system harmonic sources location.The technology and principle of harmonic sources location method are introduced. Set upthe mathematical model of harmonic sources location. The simulation analyzes theexisting harmonic source location method, and compare the advantages anddisadvantages of them. And proposes harmonic sources localization based on WAMS.Simulation results showed the method can accurately locate the harmonic source inpower system.
