Taiyuan-zhongwei-yinchuan Railway goes through the southwest edge ofMaowusu sandy area, along the Railway lies many wandering dunes, semi-fixeddunes and fixed dunes. The precipitation is rare, but the evaporation is high along theRailway, so the wind-sand blown is very violently. Since the opening ofTaiyuan-zhongwei-yinchuan Railway, the blown-sand hazards disturb the Railwayfrequently. So the blown-sand hazards need to be managed immediately.The annual average temperature is7.2℃,the annual average precipitation is280mm,the annual average wind-speed is2.8m/s along the railway. Under thecombined action of natural and human factors, along the Railway come into being thesource of sand near or far railway, the farmland sand source, etc. The wind-sandblown disturbs the Railway such as burying the fence, depositing sand on the rail,burying the drainage ditch, etc.The particle size along the Railway is0.075-0.25mm, the thickness of dry sand is3.8-20cm. The sand distributing about0-10cm away from the ground in moving air.Under the function of double dominant wind direction, the wandering dunes moveback and forth, the speed is0.5-3.44cm/d to the Railway. The direction of the mostsand transport is ES, ESS, S, so should counter the three directions implementdefensive measures.According to the wind-sand blown characteristics along the Railway, Using theFluent software and setting experiment measures to study the manage measures. Thebest height and porosity of the compound controlling sand fences is1m and35%-40%.Monitoring the windbreak and sand-fixed effect of the sand-fixed experimentmeasures such as straw checkerboard barrier, Nylon and Plastic nets and plantsand-fixed measures, the results indicates that all the three measures can develop thebetter effect. According to the sand resistance and fixed,measures,problems, settingfour fixed-resistance experiment areas, the results indicate that the experiment thatformed by straw checkerboard barrier and concentrated compound controlling sandfences and the experiment area that formed by Nylon and Plastic nets andconcentrated compound controlling sand fences are better. The wandering dunes aremoving fast and high, setting four experiment manage measures, the results indicatesthat the fixed and resistance measures is better. Setting protection system such asplant-signal, engineering-signal, combined system to resist the blown-sand hazardsaccording to the characteristics of the wind-sand blown. The protection systems along the Railway develop the right effect ensure the Railway operation safety.
