A large of economic losses has been occurred by the consistent of the information duringthe stages in the construction industry. In the engineering field, the pipeline collision is avaluable topic. The unreasonable designs will cause serious economic losses and delays inconstruction stages. BIM is based on models which are built by engineering relevantinformation; simulate the real information of the building through digital information. Inrecent years, the introduction of the BIM technology can solve problems which exit in thetradition Comprehensive Pipeline Collision Detection.This paper will research the coordination problem of pipeline based on BIM platform.Study will focus on the hierarchical bounding box technology of the collision detectionalgorithm which will study the pros and cons of bounding volume boxes and the hierarchicalbounding box’s selection. The paper will be divided into the following sections:(1) In order to be more fitting object, this paper uses the triangle area weighting methodto optimize the construction of OBB. Research the separation axis theory, which is used todecide whether two OBB intersects, the selection of the separation axis and split point.(2) In this paper, AABB as upper and OBB as below in the hierarchical bounding boxand add sphere bounding box to surround the root node is selected. The sphere bounding boxis used to quickly get rid of disjoint object. AABB is suitable for the situation which thebounding box’s intersecting range is shallow. OBB is suitable for the deep range.(3) In the hierarchy tree traversal process, combined with space-time principle tooptimize the process, it can reduce the number of the bounding box’s intersect detection. Theoptimization strategy has a certain use range which means that the two bounding volumes hasintersected and keep closer.(4) According to the drawings we build the3d model of comprehensive line on the RevitBIM platform. With the improved hybrid hierarchical bounding box technology, the resultshas verified that new method is better than the traditional hybrid hierarchical bounding box onspeed. This method is suitable for complex and rigid object’s collision detection. In thereal-time roaming, we can speed the keep closer object’s collision detection via the improvedarithmetic. According to the actual engineering industry standards, we can expand thebounding box to detect the pipelines which don’t satisfy the industry standards. Thesemethods have certain theoretical value and practical significance.
