With the increasingly serious water pollution and stringent regulations for drinking waterquality, ultrafiltration (UF) has become one of the best alternatives replacing conventionaldrinking water treatment technologies.Natural organic matter (NOM) in water is one of important factors causing membranefouling and also generates disinfection by-products (DBPs). Humic acid(HA) is an importantpart of NOM. Carbamazepine is a kind of Anti-fainting drugs,has been detected in waterenvironment many times at home and abroad.And it is difficult to biodegraded in nature.In this study, the modified TiO2photocatalytic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)membranes were prepared by adding different contents of TiO2nanoparticles andpolyethylene glycol (PEG)/lithium chloride(LiCl) through the phase inversion process (PIP)method. Under the conditions with and without ultraviolet irradiation during ultrafiltrationprocesses, NOM removal and membrane fouling of humic acid and Qingcaosha watersamples and CBZ removal and membrane fouling of laboratory prepared CBZ samples wereinvestigated and analyzed using our lab made TiO2hybrid photocatalytic inorganic/organicUF membranes. Effects of different water environments (pH,ionic strength and calcium ionicconcentration) and ultraviolet irradiation on NOM removal behavior were also explored.Results indicated that lower pH,lower ionic strength and higher calcium ionicconcentration are beneficial for improving HA removal using PVDF-PEG-TiO2membranes;and photocatalysis can significantly reduce membrane flux decline during UFprocess and reduce membrane fouling;Although PVDF-PEG-TiO2/PVDF-LiCl-TiO2membranes have lower NOM removal,but it can reduce membrane fouling;With ultravioletirradiation,TiO2hybrid photocatalytic inorganic/organic UF membranes could improve theremovel of CBZ; With ultraviolet irradiation,TiO2hybrid photocatalytic inorganic/organicUF membranes have higher antibacterial activity.
