Our country industrialization processes continuously develop since theestablishment of new China. Single-story brick column industrial workshopswidely apply in the production or storage room of medium and small-sizedenterprises due to the advantages of low cost, simple construction and obtainraw materials easily.Seismic fortification and design of building structures areattached great importance since China founding in1949, especially theXingtai earthquake, The several seismic design codes promulgated.Theaseismic design of single-layer brick column industrial workshops areconsidered successively in the aseismic design codes. Single-layer brickcolumn workshops as a kind of industrial structure go through the test of allprevious earthquakes, but also promote the development of structure forms.In order to research fully on seismic performance and failure mechanismof single-layer brick column workshop, and based on historical damage dataof single-storey brick column workshops, the detailed seismic damageanalyses are carried, the main influence factors of earthquake damage aregiven, and compiled the earthquake site survey table, compared the accuracyof the four kinds seismic damage prediction methods for single layer brickcolumn workshops, and damage mechanisms are analyzed by the finiteelement software.The main content of the paper are as follows:1. Based on the research status of single-layer brick column industrialworkshops, the collected damage information are edited, summarized thecommon forms of earthquake damage and its damage reasons respectively,and the seismic vulnerability matrix are obtained.2. The main earthquake influence factors of single-layer brick columnindustrial workshops are found out, and the value of each factor are acquiredby the multivariate linear regression method and the least squares regressionmethod. Then the rapid assessment model earthquake damage of single-layerbrick column industrial workshops is established as well as assessmentsoftware.3. According to the requirements of damage field investigation forsingle-layer brick column industrial workshops, and refer to earthquake fieldsurvey codes at the same time, the monomer and summary tables ofearthquake site survey are designd.4. The monomer and group earthquake damage predictions of12typicalsingle-layer brick column workshops are done by four methods such asstepwise regression method, displacement angle method of column top,dendrogram method and fuzzy seismic damage index prediction methodrespectively. And the damage prediction results of four methods are compare with the actual earthquake damage.5. The two typical single-storey brick column workshops in Lushanearthquake are analyzed by using finite element software ABAQUS. Sixclassical seismic waves are chosen as the ground motion input, damage cloudand internal force of two workshops are extracted after the time historyanalyses, and structure failure mechanism under the earthquake groundmotions are analyzed according to the calculation results.
