To study dynamic response characteristics of face gear transmission system.Based on lumped-parameters theory and meshing principle or features of facegear transmission system, some non-linear multi-factors are taken into accountsuch as time-varying meshing stiffness, transfer comprehensive error, meshingdamping, gear clearances, bearing elastic deformation, bearing damping andclearance, a nonlinear dynamic model of face gear transmission system isestablished in three-dimensional space with the characteristic of multi-DOFcoupled bending and torsion vibration; Based on dynamic model, a nonlineardynamical differential equations of face gear transmission system is establishedwith non-dimensional treatment; In order to solve nonlinear dynamicaldifferential equations,4-5order adaptive variable-step Runge-Kutta method isused, and the equation is solved by using matlab software.According to the meshing characteristics of face gear, dynamic response offace gear transmission system with increasing meshing frequency experience thequasi-periodic response, single-periodic harmonic response, multi-periodic sub-harmonic response and chaos; Because time-varying meshing stiffness changeswith the variation of meshing frequency, when time-varying meshing stiffnessamplitude coefficient is increasing, meshing frequency are separately selected as g=0.7and g=1.2, the influence of time-varying meshing stiffness with dynamicresponse of the gear transmission system is carried out. The dynamic responseexperiences multi-periodic sub-harmonic response and chaos, so its movementare also multi-periodic motion and non-periodic motion; Because transfercomprehensive error changes with the variation of meshing frequency, whentransfer comprehensive error amplitude coefficient is increasing, meshingfrequency are separately selected as g=0.7and g=1.2, the influence of transfer comprehensive error with dynamic response of the gear transmission system iscarried out. The dynamic response experiences quasi-periodic response, multi-periodic sub-harmonic and chaos, so its movements are also quasi-periodicmotion multi-periodic motion and non-periodic motion.This study analyzes the specific situation theoretically in drive process offace gear transmission system, the main influent factors affects its dynamicresponse characteristics. It is significant for processing grinding and modificationof face gear.
