As a kind of new type function material, magnetic fluid has some particular properties. It not only has the fluidity as a fluid, but also has the magnetism of the traditional material. With the development of science and technology, its application area has become increasingly wider. Up to now, it has been applied in motive sealing, static sealing, sensors, vibration damper and so on. And the technology of sealing gas with magnetic fluid is quietly successful.Magnetic fluid consists of three components—a base liquid, magnetic particles and surfactant. Without surfactant, the very small magnetite particles tend to separate and settle and do not remain evenly mixed with the base liquid. The surfactant envelops the magnetic particles and causes them to oppose one another within the base liquid. This prevents settlement and maintains a uniform distribution of particles. Through years of efforts by many scholars, the magnetic fluid has been successfully applied in many fields, and the magnetic fluid seal of rotating shaft is one of the applications of magnetic liquid. The properties of the magnetic fluid seal exert a large influence on the sealing ability of the magnetic fluid. The environment of space is so complex and varied. In order to enhance the reliability of seal equipment, we need to take the method of nondestructive testing to determine the distribution of the magnetic fluid.This paper mainly focuses on the following problems:(1) According to the working environment of the windows of the space station, the author designed three kinds of magnetic fluid sealing equipments, respectively, the tooth on the inner diameter of the pole piece, the tooth on the outer diameter of the pole piece, and blind hole shaft. And processed into material objects;(2) Based on the basic theory of electromagnetic field, the author used ANSYS finite software to calculate the magnetic field on the seal equipment and acquired the distribution of the magnetic field in the gap of seal, and also acquired the seal capacity of seal equipments in theory;(3) The method of nondestructive testing for magnetic fluid seal equipments was researched, and a complete scheme of nondestructive testing was proposed.
