ABSTRACT:Rock tunnel boring machines(TBMs) are huge engineering equipments which are widely used in water conservancy and hydropower, railway tunnel. Disc cutters are the major excavation boring tools which are installed on the cutterhead, the useful life and rock-breaking efficiency of disc cutters have become the key factors affecting construction cost and efficiency. Compared with the positive disc cutters, gage disc cutter’s linear velocity is larger, the rock-breaking condition is more complex and the useful life is shorter. This paper deeply analyzed interaction mechanism between gage disc cutters and rock, researched the key factors which affecting rock-breaking properties, and put forward optimal layout method of gage disc cutters. The main contents of the paper as follows:(1) The gage disc cutters sequential rock-breaking discrete element numerical models were established, then, observing and analyzing cracks evolution process, forces of disc cutter and stress distribution inside the rock during rock-breaking. Multi-evaluation comprehensive assessment models of attribute recognition were established based on entropy weight of sensitivity system, analyzed multi-factor sensitivity for parameters affecting the gage disc cutters’ cutting process, obtained the primary and secondary sequence of various factors’ influence in different geological conditions.(2) Taking the cutterhead applied in domestic engineering as example. Established the outmost gage disc cutter numerical models under different installation angles range, determined the installation angle range of gage disc cutter. Two disc cutters rock-breaking numerical model were established to determine the optimal angel difference between two disc cutters. Finally determined the number of gage disc cutters and install angle of each gage disc cutter, then determined the install polar radius of each gage disc cutter; established multi-objective optimization layout model, optimal the install polar angle of the gage disc cutters.(4)Using100T rotary rock breaking bench doing the experimental study of gage disc cutters rock breaking in order, monitoring load data of disc cutters in the process of gage disc cutters’cutting and breaking condition of the rock, analyzed the experiment results, then compared with simulation results finally verified the reliability of simulation methods.
