Communication system is an integral part of modern power grid, and it plays animportant role in the safe and stable operation of the grid. In the construction of fiber-opticcommunication networks of power, electric power special optical cable OPGW is widely used.It will have a positive promoting function and influence in communication of the powersystem to increase the application range of electric power special optical cable OPGW.Firstly, this article on basic of introducing the development process and developmentstatus of ADSS cable, OPGW cable, OPPC cable, and through the comparative analysis ofthese three cables’ characteristics, introduces and analyzes the typical structure and functionof optical fiber composite overhead ground wire (OPGW).Then based on the reconstruction project of220kV line OPGW cable, this paper analyzesthis project from aspects of the scale of construction, total construction layout, constructionresources, construction programs, and engineering environment. And it introducesconstruction technology and management of OPGW cable reconstruction project related toconstruction process.At last, taking the project construction of Nanhe-Beizhang line for example, the choiceof the construction scheme, the installation of cable, the construction methods of cable lineand the equipment, which relate to the reconstruction of OPGW cable, and the management ofconstruction site, schedule of construction and project quality in the process of engineeringconstruction, have been analyzed and researched. And technical measures about preventingthe damage of OPGW cable have been given. What’s more, the problems faced in the processof construction are discussed in detail, and the solutions of problems and measures of specificimproving are introduced.
