With the rapid expanding of the electric power communication networks, ADSS(ALL Dielectric Self-Supporting Optical Fiber Cable) and OPGW ( Optical-Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire) are largely applied in China. Creep deformation characteristic of overhead electrical cable is an important guideline to design and construction of power supply and transformation, which is to predict sagging variation of transmission line correctly. The practice has proved that the test automation system has better stability, real time and reliability, which provides trial data for creep deformation characteristic research.Firstly, this paper introduces the application situation of the overhead electrical cable and reviews the basic structure of ADSS & OPGW optical cable. The second part provides their creep principles and some test models. The next part gives the architecture of the automation test system and then detailed analyses the test data of ADSS-AT-24B1-18KN and ADSS-AT361B1-17KN optical cable. Then a constructive formula has been deduced and utilized to evaluate how much the creep rate will become after the optical cable used at a given time such as 10 years, 30 years, etc. The final part gives the design and implementation of the system software.
