In recent years,as State Grid "Three sets of Five"important thought being putforward,the deployment and implementation of "Three sets of Five"in LiaoningElectric Power Co.,the rapid development of social industry in Benxi area,Benxipower grid enters into a new era of rapid construction,development andexpansion.Benxi Power Grid is at an annual average of2newly built,reconstructionof2220kV substations,and nearly8newly built,8reconstruction of66kVsubstations growing rate. The annual electricity consumption of the whole societyreaches11.785billion kwh by the December,2012.Benxi is located in the easternmountain area of Liaoning Province,rich in mineral resources and complexgeographical environment.There are total117transmission lines above66kV,2,292km of which75%is located in the mountains.The seasonal geologicaldisasters such as heavy rains,floods,lightening damage,landslides and some externaldamage circumstances poses a threat to electrical equipment,ultimately resulting intransformer fault trip,even grid splitting,the safety and stability of the powersystem.This paper gives a comprehensive induction and analysis, such as fault types,causes and features of transformers, through collecting and collating relevant dataof the actual operating conditions.Combining the failure characteristic, it gives in-depth study of the faultdiagnosis method, works out the fault diagnosis methods and processes at actualwork conditions.Finally, through the fault diagnosis method used in Benxi electrical test, it canaccurately identify the health level of transformers and potential risks, defeat andfault. It improves work efficiency and reliability of power supply.
