With the rapid development of power industry, both the demand and thecapacity for transformers are increasing. Transformer winding hot spot temperaturerise is an important index to measure the quality of transformer winding design.In this paper, based on actual conditions of ultra high voltage transformer andconverter transformer, a simplified form transformer3-D model has beenestablished and simulated with commercial software, Magnet. The simulation resulthas been detailed analyzed.The optimal layout scheme of the heat removal system inside ultra high voltagetransformer was researched. Investigation was carried out on transformer onlinemonitoring devices in present international market. One of those devices wasselected to measure the hot spot temperature of a real transformer product. Comparethe measuring result and the simulation result which has been model and simulatedbefore, find out the difference between them and analysis its reason, modify themodeling and simulating parameter to ensure the consistency between the tworesults. The modeling and simulating method and parameters can be rise to astandard which can guide the heat removal system optimal layout design inside thetransformer.
