The traditional seismic design using structure itself to withstand earthquake force,Thisidea can prevent structure collapse, but at this time the structure may have been severelydamaged. It can’t guarantee the structure safety and reliability. Viscous damping wall (VDW)structure as the damping structure, the viscous damping walls is installed reasonably in thebuilding to absorb seismic energy and wind vibration energy.This paper systematically introduces the basic structure, damping materials, mechanicalmodel, damping force calculation formula and the advantages of viscous damping wall. Itputs forward the simulation analysis Contrast between the3d VDW model and simplifiedVDW model, and analysis the viscous damping wall under different parameter combinations.And then I use a5storey frame structure as an example to simulation analysis and parameteranalysis for deeper understanding.This paper also expounds the theory analysis of viscous damping wall structure. Itmainly introduces The linearization theory of nonlinear viscous damping, mode-superpositionresponse spectrum method to solve nonlinear multi-freedom viscous damper model.This paper analysis several key steps of the viscous damping wall structure designprocess. Including seismic performance target of damping structure, the estimation of theadditional damping ratio, the estimation of VDW quantity and the VDW install principle andrequirements. And then I use a10storey frame shear structure as an example to research andanalysis the VDW installed in different place.Detailed analysis a5storey viscous damping wall frame structure by SAP2000combinewith SATWE from setting seismic performance target, the estimation of VDW quantity,install position and the dynamic response under frequent earthquake, moderate earthquake,rare earthquake and extremely rare earthquake to the VDW hysteresis curve. The analysisshow that the viscous damping wall can dissipate seismic energy efficiently under frequentearthquake, moderate earthquake, rare earthquake and extremely rare earthquake to make surethe structure to achieve the expected seismic target.
