Gear transmission has the advantages of compact structure, high efficiency, long servicelife etc. It is one of the important transmission form in the mechanical transmission, Geartransmission system is an integral part of the space shuttle and high speed train. Gear systemis mainly composed of the gear, shaft, bearing and body composition, also includes associatedwith gear drive coupling, flywheel, prime mover and load etc. Because of the error in theprocess of manufacture, installation error and the friction in working environment. There willbe a backlash and bearing radial clearance inevitably in the gear system, they can lead to agear collision, vibration and noise. Under the background of this kind of environment,studying the coupling nonlinear vibration characteristics of gear transmission system has acertain practical value for the optimization of gear system design and manufactureIn the paper, using the lumped parameter method established respectively single stagegear transmission mechanics model and the orthogonal face gear drive system model of fivedegrees of freedom. Through analyzing the gear meshing force, the differential equations ofgear transmission system is established according to the Newton’s law and differentialequation for dimensional change. The numerical analysis of the gear system dimensionlessequations is used the adaptive step Runge-Kutta numerical integral method. Draw thebifurcation diagram, phase diagram and time response of the figure of the gear transmissionsystem. Under the influence of damping ratio, the single stage gear transmission system froma stable periodic motion to chaos movement through times tumble bifurcation. And throughthe analysis of the gear system under the specific damping ratio of the phase diagram andtime response to verify its motion state. Analyses the influence of several main parametersfor the system movement, it is good for the optimization and design of gear. The orthogonalface gear system is mainly analyzed under the influence of excitation frequency. Gear systemmovement is from periodic motion to quasi periodic motion to chaos. Among them there willbe some cycle window to appear. Research shows that the system backlash has little influencefor gear transmission system, it will not change the state of the impact of the geartransmission system.
