For a long time, the linear motion is obtained by the rotation of motors and the mecha-nical linkages. With the development of the motor theory and technology, linear motor is anevolution of the rotating motor. Under the action of the traveling wave magnetic field, thelinear motor generates thrust directly, which is needed in the process of production. Theone-way or the two-way limited controllable displacement can be obtained by the thrust. Inthis thesis, a short primary cylindrical linear motor is designed. Without the intermediatemechanical transmission conversion device, the linear motor can generate continuousunidirectional or reciprocating short stroke linear mechanical motion directly. The motor is anactuator to provide high power and high thrust.In the thesis, a three-phase AC cylindrical linear induction motor is designed. The ratedvoltage of the motor is380V; the synchronous speed is4.8m/s; the electromagnetic force is275N. The design includes the following content:(1) The design and selection of motor structure and materials. According to the operat-ing principle and magnetic topology structure of the linear motor, the primary structure andslot structure of the cylindrical linear motor are designed. Besides, according to the impact onthe motor characteristics, the secondary materials and structures of cylindrical linear motorare selected and designed. In the design, the transverse laminated structure is used in theprimary (primary side), the open slot is adopted as a motor trough of the optimization model,secondary is a external application of copper composite secondary of steel, primary windingis a single-layer cake-style concentrated winding.(2) The design of the primary and secondary. According to the design specifications, thedimensions and winding parameters of the linear motor are selected and designed.(3) The design of the electromagnetic. An equivalent circuit of the linear motor is estab-lished, the equivalent parameters and starting characteristics are designed and calculated.(4) The finite element analysis and optimization of the cylindrical linear induction motorare obtained. For one thing, using the finite element analysis, the simulation model is set up.Then the distribution of thrust and magnetic fields of the motor are obtained as well as thecorrectness of the design is verified. For another, the affects of main parameters having on themotor starting characteristics are analyzed, such as gap, thickness of secondary copper layer.(5) Frequency control technology of motor is used in the paper. The CHF series inverteras well as the the programmable controller PLC are used. The frequency control of thethree-phase AC cylindrical linear induction motor is achieved.
