With the rapid development of China’s economy, the number of motor vehicles inthe unceasing increase, the corresponding strengthen traffic management has alsobeen mentioned attaches great importance to the position. Aiming at this phenomenon,producing intelligent transportation system, as an important part in intelligenttransportation system of license plate recognition is becoming more and more becomethe research focus.Nowadays the network technology and multimedia technology have universalcoverage, digital image is widely applied to various fields of production and living,and digital image processing technology has become the information science andtechnology in one of the most rapidly developing subject in recent decades. Thisarticle is to license plate recognition research of digital image median filteringalgorithm.In order to get more from the digital image information and improve the qualityof the image is only rely on the software realization of image processing has beenunable to meet the demand of real-time, high efficiency and so on, at the same time,along with the rapid development of microelectronics technology, and based on avariety of hardware platform of the digital image processing has more advantages.License plate recognition features of digital image processing is very time consuminglarge amount of data and processing, this paper made based on the FPGA withhardware description language to realize the image processing algorithms research.First introduces the related knowledge of digital image processing and algorithm, anddescribes the histogram equalization, convolution, filtering, edge detection and so onthe basic principle, and application of Matlab simulation of median filtering algorithm.Then, on the FPGA principle and Quartus development platform is introduced indetail. In the end, choose a fast median filtering algorithm, the application of FPGAdesign a three-point comparator, using verilog HDL hardware description language torealize the median filter on the FPGA logic design and the basic algorithm.In this paper, the digital image median filtering algorithm based on FPGA is theprinciple of made a detailed description, program design and timing simulation andrealized with hardware description language processing research of digital image, thelicense plate recognition of digital image processing system based on FPGAimplementation has played a positive role.
